Mission Statement
bayc works to create opportunities for change in the lives of young people and the communities they live in.
We encourage people to think and act differently about the way they engage with young people, and we support young people to make their aspirations a reality.
Strategic Aims
To work in partnership with:
• young people to inform thinking and practice, and to evidence the work
• youth workers to inform thinking and practice and to engage with young people to create opportunities for change
• others to advocate the youth work process as a basis for effective engagement with young people
To provide training capacity-building and support for:
• youth work practitioners, youth groups and organisations to put into practice real engagement of young people as partners
• youth work practitioners to develop their approach and practice in delivering quality youth work
• youth groups and other agencies to create opportunities for life-changing experiences for young people
To promote diversity and inclusion through:
• targeted work with young people and youth groups,
• reducing isolation of excluded groups
• bringing together people who might otherwise not meet
To influence decision-makers locally and regionally to support the youth work process and the involvement of young people as equal partners
To develop the governance and culture of bayc as an organisation which embraces change and continual professional development to ensure that its practice is consistent with its mission and values.
