November 2008

This month has been cold and windy. I put up a new peanut feeder, protected from the squirrels by a round cage. It didn't take the birds long to find it either.

Birds seen are Blue Tit, Nuthatch, Great Tit, Magpie, Blackbird, Mallard flying over the garden, Robin, Wren, Woodpigeon, Long Tailed Tit, Chaffinch, Dunnock, Kestrel, Carrion Crow and Ferel Pigeon.

The Blackbirds have been feasting on the fallen apples. I noticed a very, very late Wasp on one of the apples and I also found a half eaten apple balanced in a fork in the brances of one of the apple trees. I imagine it was taken up there by one of the squirrels. I have seen one of the Robin at the seed feeder. Not being as agile as the Blue and Great Tits, it found this a bit difficult but managed in the end.
