What Is Action Research

The core principles of the B:Yeard project are centered on a process called action research.


Action research is usually described as a process which works through a cycle of different stages.  There are many models or cycles of action research which have been developed to explain the process of action research, by a wide range of different theorists althought one of the most common cycles if a process which works through the stages of

Observe - Reflect - Plan - Act

A Question possessed by young people locally was:   ‘How can young people make their wants and needs heard and recognised by practitioners, decision makers and people in power’.  

In attempting to begin answering this question these young people developed a toolkit to explain the process of action research.  

This toolkit is entitled   

Little people Big Voices.
